Is your gifted child thriving socially? Are they a tad awkward? Or are you struggling to find answers to a problem that seems insurmountable? Sometimes, the advice can be confusing - from leave them be to put them in small group social programs, from get them a mentor to get them a psychologist... Much of the advice can be downright contradictory, and you never can tell what's best for your child.
Over the course of the evening, we will investigate the four major patterns of social-emotional development found in gifted children - the behaviours and thought-patterns associated with each, the circumstances that can promote the development of one pattern over another and the different supports that each pattern is likely to benefit from. With practical, logical advice for parents and guardians, this presentation aims to address the common concerns parents have about their children's ongoing wellbeing.

Although QAGTC South has been exploring possibilities of recording events, due to the sensitivity of the subject material, this event will not be recorded.
Note: Given the sensitivity of the subject matter, this is an adult-focused session and children should not be in attendance. If parents choose to share the information from the presentation with their children, it should be firmly in the context of their family unit. Older teenagers who have secure emotional wellbeing and maturity are welcome to accompany their parents. Accompanying teens (aged 16 and above) will also need a booking for logistical planning purposes.
