QAGTC 2020 State Conference - Cancelled

Challenging Australia: Creating Vibrant Futures for Gifted Children

The QAGTC conference organisers have been keeping a close eye on recent world events in order to ensure that decisions are made in the light of wisdom rather than panic. Due to the current advice around the risks of COVID-19, we have regrettably made the decision to cancel our 2020 QAGTC Annual Conference. This is disappointing for us, for our presenters and for those who have registered.

We sincerely thank all our keynote presenters, Dr John Munro, Tony Ryan, Li Cunxin, and Eric Frangenheim, and all the workshop presenters, who had each prepared wonderful material for us to share.

  • Recognising gifted learning in the classroom : A first step in planning for extension.   Gifted learning in its multiple forms.
  • A framework for planning extension based on how gifted learners learn;  differentiating the teaching, the curriculum, and the learning context.
  • Application of the framework to topics in the Australian Curriculum
  • Differentiating a typical teaching session for extension

John invites you to read the following article he was invited to write for The Conversation a year ago at https://theconversation.com/how-to-identify-understand-and-teach-gifted-children-107718.  It attracted 44,000 reads internationally.

Also, ACER invited John to make a podcast about his perspectives on gifted learning in the classroom.  It is available at https://www.teachermagazine.com.au/articles/the-research-files-episode-56-john-munro-on-gifted-education?utm_source=CM&utm_medium=Bulletin&utm_content=28Jan
