Brisbane North

Welcome to QAGTC North Branch

*What we do.........

The Queensland Association of Gifted and Talented Children (QAGTC) is a non-profit organisation that seeks to support parents, teachers and other key stakeholders on the needs of gifted children. The North Branch looks forward to welcoming you to any of our branch activities.

What's On in 2017?

In 2017 we will meet on the 3rd Thursday of each month during the school year. We will also be holding our popular Parent Guided Study Groups alongside some exciting Children's Workshops on weekends. Event dates and information will be available on the Events page and will be updated regularly.

North Branch will be theming our parent events each term. This will allow us to explore various important topics in detail, and also link in with the theme of the Parent Guided Study Groups. Each term, we will offer discussion meetings and guest speakers to help us to gain a deeper understanding.

Term 1- Understanding Giftedness
Term 2- Identification
Term 3- Social and Emotional Development
Term 4- Understanding Underachievement

Our Term 1 2017 evening meeting dates will be
Feb 16th

March 16th
Weekend dates will be announced shortly.

General Information

We are a group of northsiders whose lives have been touched in some way by children who are identified as (or whom we suspect may be) gifted and talented.

We offer practical tools, such as a library of resources (see list below); access to latest research articles about educational accommodations; parent-to-parent support; professional and knowledgeable guest speakers; workshops and activities for gifted children and family events.

Above all, we offer friendship and support in a non-judgemental atmosphere. We find our stories of both successes and challenges resonate strongly with others who often feel relieved to be finally understood.

All are welcome to attend.

Checkout the "Events" section to see what's currently on offer.

2015 Parent Guided Study Group - Module 3 Social and Emotional Development of Gifted Students

Thursday, 16 July 2015 - 7:30pm - 9:00pm

Interested in sharing your own and others' experiences in parenting gifted children and understanding their unique social and emotional needs?

Please note there are still a couple of places left if you wish to join the ongoing study group.

Brisbane North Branch July Parent Support Group

Please note our change of time.

Our PSG Meeting will allow plenty of time for discussion and questions. Our Parent Support Groups are useful for parents and teachers of gifted children at both the primary and secondary levels, and in all sectors (State, Catholic and Independent). Other professionals are also most welcome.

The PSG Meetings are quite relaxed and informal. Minutes are not taken and discussions remain confidential. To create an environment in which participants feel confident to discuss aspects of parenting and teaching, we request that support group meetings be ‘adults only’.
