February Parent/Teacher Support Group Meeting:

IQ testing: What’s it really about and is it really necessary?

Have you been asked by your child’s teacher to take him/her to see an Educational Psychologist? Or maybe your school has asked you to prove that your child meets criteria for acceleration or for entry into its Gifted Education Program? This session will consider IQ testing, and objective and subjective measures of identification to demonstrate how complex and varied high potential learners are. Discussions will focus on how ‘learner profiling’ is recommended in preference to just IQ testing, and how this benefits your school’s capacity to establish learning pathways that allow individual potential to be developed.

Facilitator: Jasna Poeszushas been in the field of education for over 25 years. She is currently serving as a Coordinator in Gifted Education.
