Please follow these guidelines when submitting your proposal for:

1. a seminar paper (40 minutes) - meeting standards of academic merit
2. an interactive workshop (80* minutes) - academic merit and audience participation
3. a discussion or panel group (40 or 80* minutes) - groups can be organised as a "Panel of Experts" who react to the issue presented by a chair person, or as a "Round Table" where a presenter discusses a topic with a group. These are less formal and allow more audience interaction.

*In the ABSTRACT, presenters requesting workshop sessions are to mention what interactive strategies will engage their audience in the session content.

The abstract must not exceed 200 words. It will:

1. clearly state the issue or problem related to the conference theme
2. summarise how the presenter/s are addressing/have addressed the issue and with what outcome/s to date
3. demonstrate implications for gifted children: what question is answered?

Please check your abstract includes:

• Title,
• Short title for timetable (if title is more than four words),
• Type of presentation (see three possibilities above)
• Target audience
• Name/s of presenter/s
• Affiliation if relevant
• Contact details (of one presenter):
  • mailing address
  • telephone
  • email
• Biographical note (50-60 words per person)
• Indication of special equipment needs:
  Please indicate if you require a room with movable tables and chairs.
  All rooms have a white board and overhead projector.
  Computers are not supplied.

Important Information for Presenters

Remember the abstract needs to communicate to the potential audience what you want to talk about, so write in a way that attracts people to your session.

Abstracts will be selected for relevance to the theme, i.e., gifted education or gifted children; for usefulness to teachers, parents of gifted children, or to community members, researchers and practitioners in allied fields; and according to standards of academic merit. Evidence-based information will be highly regarded.

The conference programmers reserve the right to edit all abstracts and biographical data to a common style/format for the Conference Program and for the Conference Website.

You are welcome to bring handouts for distribution but photocopying will not be available at the venue.

Presenters are required to register for the conference. If this presents a major issue, contact the convenor central@qagtc.org.au to discuss. Please note that when registering, conference speakers are granted a very substantial discount.
