Toni Banfield

Toni Banfield was at the time of her Presidency, the Head of Gifted Education at Brisbane Boys' College and was completing PhD studies in gifted education, focusing on ability grouping for mathematically gifted adolescent boys and its influence on self-concept, self-esteem, and self-efficacy. She has completed the Certificate of Gifted Education (COGE), University of New South Wales, and was involved in the Commonwealth funded Independent Schools Unicorn Project for two years, creating differentiated curriculum units for gifted students.

Toni presented papers at the recent World Conference for Gifted and Talented Children, Adelaide, and the QAGTC State Conference. Toni presented the keynote lecture and follow-up workshops at the Quality Teacher Conference, Kurwongbah State School. In establishing Gift-Ed Consultancy, Toni has been involved in providing professional development for schools interested in catering for gifted students covering a range of topics from identification to curriculum differentiation.

Toni has a strong passion for gifted education. Her role as QAGTC President was from August 2003 - October 2005.
