Jim Watters

Jim Watters is an Associate Professor in education within the School of Mathematics Science and Technology Education and Director of the Post-graduate Research Students Program within the Faculty of Education at Queensland University of Technology.

Jim has been Vice-President of QAGTC since 1996. He is also Queensland delegate to the board of the Australian Association for the Education of Gifted and Talented (AAEGT). He has contributed to gifted education in Queensland through a range of consultative services to Government including a review of gifted education policy (2001), reviews of the Learning and Development Centres and service on a range of Departmental committees relevant to Gifted Education. He has led AGQTP workshops in gifted education and worked with a number of schools to develop gifted education initiatives.

He teaches undergraduate units in gifted education, science education and policy at QUT and supervisors students studying for higher degrees in these areas.

Jim has won awards for outstanding teaching, service to Science Education in Queensland, global learning initiatives and for gifted education programs.
