On Saturday 26th February 2011 we had a couple of mystery workshops for children. These workshops were fully booked out, but here's a snippet of the children's activities and work during the workshops...
Workshop Information: Countless readers and film fanatics have devoted hours to exploring the world of the mystic. Over time, authors and film directors have created stories and characters that have captured the imaginations of both young and old. The fascination we hold for what lies beyond the bounds of reality has manifested itself both in literature and modern day film.
In this workshop, students explored the genres of science fiction and fantasy through a study of texts which involved elements of both the mystic and scientific. Students were encouraged to explore the relationship between literature and society, and how beliefs and values are reflected in texts. Students applied skills of critical thinking and evaluation and had the opportunity to display their understandings through practical group activities.
