Hi all, I'm only a new member and don't really know how to use this forum. They said to have fun and give it a go so here I am. Jaz

Hi Jacinta, Looks like you've made a good start but there appear to be some bugs still to iron out in the process. I imagine that there will be some confused messages for a while though. How did you come to join QAGTC - you mentioned that you were a new member. Tony

Hi Just wanted to see how others are going with the new school year? This is the first year our school is happy to openly discuss 'gifted needs'. Looking good so far for us. We are quietly optimistic! Raina

Hi Raina Are you in a Brisbane School? Primary or Secondary? Are they doing more than "discussing"? Would love to know what's actually going on in some schools. Tony

Hi Raina. Our school is also very open to discussing gifted needs, and I think we will see some action soon. We've been told that DS is 4th in line to be reviewed by the G&T committee. The only thing is that I don't think they realised how quickly DS would become bored and disruptive. Boredom took just 5 days of prep to be at the point where we could see the behaviour change at home, and an extra week before they could see his behaviour change in the classroom. They have started the extension work already but it's just not enough. I think we need to be patient though and see what the committee comes up with - they are open to subject acceleration, and grade acceleration which I'm sure will happen at some point. So I guess it's one step at a time and trying not to worry too much or be too reactionary. How are things going for you now that school has been in for a few weeks?

Was anyone successful ?

Hi Slowly, Successful in what? We have had a great start to the year. Our son is 7 and at Varsity College on the Gold Coast. We had some long and painful discussions with the school at the end of last year. There was an entire re-think about the way that my son was being educated and we are hopeful that things will now be heading in the right direction. He appears to be engaged in his schooling and one day even spoke about something school work related that he had done. And the year is only 2 weeks old. Ian
