Productive partnerships
for Smart Education

Education change and reform are gathering momentum in Queensland with the New Basics initiative challenging teachers and schools to focus on maximising outcomes for all students.
Flexible and varied patterns of curriculum development are being produced underpinned by an acknowledgment that students progress through school at varied rates.
Reform also acknowledges the important role that gifted students will ultimately play in society and the need to foster their exceptional abilities from an early age.
Throughout the system, attention is being drawn to the need to provide special assistance and targeted programs to gifted students.
Through recent initiatives Queensland has developed considerable expertise in provisioning for the gifted.

This conference will bring together expert practitioners, policy makers, parents, teachers and others with a interest in investing in our future through the support of the gifted.
Achieving the reality of the Smart State, will require partnerships between all stakeholders to ensure that those who are most likely to contribute to this reality are supported.
