"Forward to the Basics!
22-24th March, 2002 PRESENTER'S INFORMATION
These guidelines should be followed in presenting your paper, discussion group,
or interactive workshop at the conference.
For a 40-minute paper, speakers should aim to speak for about 30 minutes
allowing some 10 minutes at the conclusion for discussion. A chairperson will
monitor times.
A workshop session has a 90 minutes
time slot. Workshops or panel discussions should be interactive and not just a
lecture. Participants attend workshops to engage in active learning experiences
through opportunities to engage in discussion and share innovative ideas with
other participants. Plan to finish slightly early to allow participants to move
to the next session, which in most cases is a lunch or tea break.
Presenters are encouraged to stay as long as
possible at the conference and to join in discussions with participants in
informal settings.
Abstracts will be published in the printed conference program.
Room allocation is based on capacity and any special requirements. See the
"venue" page and the Room Attributes links
for each building from there.
Technical support on the
weekend is limited. For instance, Video supplied by CVRS (Central Video Replay
Centre) will not be available. No computers are supplied. Internet access can
be arranged for your laptop by setting it to get an IP address automatically
from a DHCP server. Contact the
Conference Convenor for information on how to set up appropriately.
Each room is equipped with a phone and a help sheet on the lectern will explain
how to get assistance.
A quiet room will be available for presenters’ use over the weeked.
The registration desk will have the key.
You are welcome to bring papers for distribution but
photocopying will not be available
at the venue.
Please think about writing a full paper for publication
in either Mindscape or the Australasian Journal for Gifted Education.
If you intend to do this, an electronic copy and hard copy
should be brought with you and left with the secretariate.
