The 10th State Conference of the Queensland
Association for Gifted and Talented Children Inc.

Friday 23rd March to Sunday 25th March 2001

"Combining the gifts of students, parents and school staff to create Optimal Learning Communities"

The field of gifted education and talent development offers principles for optimising learning conditions for all students, and in particular, for those capable of excelling at the highest levels of human achievement. Pedagogy and curriculum have much to learn from gifted education. We need to develop partnerships with all who appreciate that those with gifts and talents need support. We can do this only in an atmosphere of mutual respect and collaboration.
Learning communities can be built around schools in a spirit of open communication, as a conscious decision of the whole community. We need to reassert the importance of the great contribution we make to education in general and the value of the support we provide to students, parents and school staff.

You are invited to participate in this event which will bring together the full range of interested people to confer and contribute to the realisation of the smart state!
