Learning Together: Sharing Wisdom for the Future*: The
Thinking Leadership Project
Elizabeth Graham, Osk Lowe, and Brady Lowe, St. Francis Xavier Gold
Coast
"Society cannot nor will not survive without
intelligent, imaginative leadership. Leadership training for
students
can provide leaders who have
both the intellectual and creative potential to lead" (Sisk 1993, p.
493)
This workshop is a collaborative endeavour
by
four shareholders from our school community: a teacher, a parent and two
students who will outline and share an innovative curriculum initiative
concerning "Thinking Leadership". This project is the first education project
of
The Edward de Bono Centre for Thinking Gold Coast Australia. Our students with
"over one thousand middle school students and their teachers will engage in a
Constructive Thinking and Leadership experience, to think ways out of our
problems and design the future. Our school will be assigned a mentor from the
business world who will assist in implementing beneficial projects. This will
forge positive relationships between present and future leaders".
(Media Release
The Edward de Bono Centre for Thinking Gold Coast, June 2000).
Our team will focus on these features within the presentation: Project
Plans, Our school Context, Main Focuses, Strategies, Resources. Together our
team will share Our Wisdom and model Teamwork and Leadership with a St.
Francis Xavier flavour.
*This title was the theme for a Catholic Education Curriculum Conference in
1999.
